UCSB Sustainability Summit

University of California, Santa Barbara Sustainability Summit, brought community leaders together to address complex environmental and economic challenges in the region, with a notable moment experiencing siting in an EV Forklift featured at the event. SBCAG contributed to both the EV Showcase and a panel discussion on the ‘Transition to Zero Emission Vehicles in Santa Barbara County.’ Sarkes Khachek, director of programming, presented SBCAG’s work to develop the six county Central Coast Zero Emission Vehicle Strategy (CCCZEVS) and the coordination efforts to submit a federal Charging and Fueling Infrastructure grant. Other speakers included representatives from City of Santa Barbara, County of Santa Barbara and Community Environmental Council. There was much interest by participants on next steps by SBCAG related to implementation of a mega regional zero emission vehicle working group which was recommended by CCCZEVS. It was a meaningful morning in the collaborative efforts to work toward a sustainable future.
