SBCAG – Traffic Solutions maintains strong collaborative relationships with many organizations in Santa Barbara County. By partnering with other community-oriented entities and leveraging shared resources, we are able to improve the lives of everyone living in our beautiful region..

Collaborative Programs

CycleMAYnia – CycleMAYnia is the South Coast’s Bike Month coordinated by Traffic Solutions in partnership with MOVE Santa Barbara County, the County of Santa Barbara and the Cities of Santa Barbara, Carpinteria and Goleta. This partnership also includes private businesses and large employers.

Open Streets – Open Streets is modeled after more than a hundred other similar initiatives in Latin America, Europe and North America, strengthening communities and giving people a temporary break from the stress and fumes of motor traffic. Coordinated by Traffic Solutions in partnership with MOVE Santa Barbara County and numerous community agencies and organizations, these events all have one thing in common: long stretches of roadways are closed to motorized traffic and opened up to people to promote physical activity and community interaction. The health benefits are huge and the smiles are even bigger! Open Streets events get families out of their houses to enjoy the streets, our largest public space.

The Green Business Program of Santa Barbara County – The Green Business Program of Santa Barbara County (GBPSBC) is part of the California Green Business Program, a network of local programs operated by counties and cities throughout California. The GBPSBC provides resources and assistance to businesses wanting to be green, certifies businesses through workshops and trainings, on-site visits and evaluation, and highlights Certified Businesses so that local consumers can shop green.

Love Your Ride – Love Your Ride is a community-based bike theft prevention program in Santa Barbara County, coordinated by SBCAG Traffic Solutions with the National Bike Index. The program aims to empower the cycling community to prevent bike theft and recover stolen bikes through educational materials, free and convenient bike registration (Bike Index). Cyclists that love their rides not only keep them clean and functioning well, but they also protect them against bike theft.

Santa Barbara Car Free – This partnership with LOSSAN Rail offers car free visitors and Santa Barbara County residents a 20% train discount for the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner.

Safe Routes to School – Safe Routes to School – offered by MOVE Santa Barbara County and the Lompoc Community Health Organization – provides pedestrian and bicycle safety education both in and out of the classroom; distributes and custom-fit affordable child and adult safety helmets (over 12,000 to date!), and offers CycleMAYnia events such as Bici Familia and Bike to School Day that encourage kids to get to school in healthy, sustainable ways.

Community Partners

MOVE Santa Barbara County – MOVE Santa Barbara County a countywide resource and advocacy organization that promotes bicycling for safe transportation and recreation. MOVE has been working to make Santa Barbara a great place to ride a bike for over 30 years.

CEC – The Community Environmental (CEC) is focused on pioneering real life solutions in areas with the biggest impact on climate change – most notably energy, transportation, and food systems. Their programs provide pathways to clean vehicles, solar energy, resilient food systems and reduction of single-use plastic.

Lompoc Community Health Organization – LVCHO’s mission is to improve the health of the community by assuring local access to a coordinated system of health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment services. This achieved by providing a F.A.C.E (Facilitate, Assess, Convene and Educate) for the community healthcare system. LVCHO lead the first annual Lompoc Open Streets and coordinates Safe Routes to School and bike to work day events in Lompoc.

The Santa Barbara South Coast Chamber of Commerce – The Santa Barbara South Coast Chamber of Commerce is the oldest and largest business organization in the Tri-County Region. The Chamber is a non-profit corporation founded in 1878 and incorporated in 1899. The Chamber is governed by an elected, volunteer board of directors and managed by a professional staff. The organization operates a Visitor Center, at 1 Garden Street, and a corporate office at 104 W. Anapamu Street, Suite A.

The Santa Maria Valley Chamber – The Santa Maria Valley Chamber helps the business community prosper. We are a catalyst for business growth, a convener of leaders and influencers, and a champion for a stronger Santa Maria Valley. We achieve this purpose through valuable business services, deep and relevant connections, business learning opportunities, and influence on economic and public policies.

Corporate and Government Sponsors and Supporters

APCD- Formed in 1994, The Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District is responsible for controlling air pollution from all sources except motor vehicles. Their staff includes meteorologists, engineers, environmental scientists, planners, inspectors, and administrative personnel and their governing body is made up of each of the five county supervisors plus a city council member or mayor from each of the county’s eight cities in Santa Barbara County. The APCD has been a long time supporter of Traffic Solutions programs, including the Green Shorts Film Festival, CycleMAYnia and Open Streets and is the coordinator of the Santa Barbara Car Free program.

City of Carpinteria – The City of Carpinteria has a population of 13,040 located 12 miles south of Santa Barbara. Carpinteria has supported CycleMAYnia for several years and was host to Carpinteria Open Streets that was held on April 1, 2017.

City of Goleta – Incorporated in 2002, Goleta has a population of 55,204 and is located just north of Santa Barbara. Goleta has been a long supporter of CycleMAYnia, the Santa Barbara County Bike Map, and SmartRide.

City of Santa Barbara – with a population of 91,930 and is the second largest city in Santa Barbara County. Santa Barbara has supported many Traffic Solutions programs over the years, including SmartRide, CycleMAYnia, the Santa Barbara County Bike Map, three Santa Barbara Open Streets events and several vanpool and transit incentive programs.

Cottage Health System – For over 125 years, our not-for-profit health system has been providing advanced medical care for patients throughout California. Today, our nationally recognized services provide families with the patient-centered care they deserve.

County of Santa Barbara – The County of Santa Barbara was formed in 1850 and has a population of 423,895. The County’s geographic boundaries coincide with SBCAG region giving the two agencies many opportunities to collaborate. The County has supported regional and local transit and has supported many of Traffic Solution’s programs including FlexWork SB, SmartRide, CycleMAYnia and several Open Streets events.

Deckers – is a fashion lifestyle company with several familiar brands such as, Teva, Ugg, Hoka and Sanuk that specialize in active footwear. The company is headquartered in Goleta and has supported several Traffic Solutions programs such as CycleMAYnia, SmartRide and bike education programs.

Marian Regional Medical Center – Marian Regional Medical Center has been serving patients on the Central Coast for nearly 75 years. We continue to grow to meet the health care needs of our community. Marian’s history began in 1940 when, in response to a call for health care services in the community of Santa Maria, the Sisters of St. Francis founded Our Lady of Perpetual Help Hospital. With an unwavering mission to further the healing ministry of Jesus, the Sisters guided the hospital. In 1967, the new Marian Hospital at 1400 East Church Street was completed and dedicated. Through the coming years, many addition services, including a Heart Center, were added. In 1982, the hospital became known as Marian Medical Center.

MTD – The mission of Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District (MTD) is to enhance the mobility of South Coast residents, commuters, and visitors by offering safe, appealing, equitable, environmentally responsible, and fiscally sound transit service. MTD has sponsored several Traffic Solutions programs such as Try Transit, Open Streets and the Green Shorts Film Festival.

Open Air Bicycles – Open Air Bicycles carries everything from kids bikes to commuters, cruisers to Tour de France racers, hybrids and a full line of mountain bikes! They carry Giant Bicycles, Cannondale, Schwinn and GT bicycles. Open Air Bicycles has long been a supporter of CycleMAYnia.

Sansum Clinic – Sansum Clinic, founded in 1921, is one of the oldest non-profit outpatient clinics in California. Located in Santa Barbara, it is also one of the largest healthcare providers on the south and central coast of California. Sansum Clinic has a comprehensive commuter program for their employees and has been a supporter of SmartRide, Open Streets and CycleMAYnia.

SBCC – Santa Barbara City College is a fully accredited community college that offers over 155 degree and certificate programs, training in a wide range of career technical fields, and transfer programs that provide the first two years of study toward the baccalaureate degree. SBCC has a commuter program for employees and transportation services and incentives to encourage sustainable transportation to campus, including a Bici Centro community bike shop on campus, managed by MOVE Santa Barbara County. SBCC is a supporter of CycleMAYnia, SmartRide and is a certified Green Business through the Santa Barbara County Green Business Program.

SBCAG – The Santa Barbara County Association of Governments is a regional planning agency comprised of Santa Barbara County and all eight incorporated cities within the county. SBCAG distributes local, state, and federal transportation funds and acts as a forum for addressing regional and multi-jurisdictional issues. Many of the issues that face local governments and the people they serve such as traffic, housing, air quality, and growth extend beyond jurisdictional boundaries. SBCAG’s primary purpose is to assist local governments in solving common problems and addressing public policy issues that are regional or multi-jurisdictional. SBCAG exists to provide a forum for regional collaboration and cooperation between agencies.

SONOS – In 2002, we set out with a goal – to reinvent home audio for the digital age. Our vision was simple – fill every home with music and make listening a valued experience again. UCSB – The University of California, Santa Barbara is a leading research institution that also provides a comprehensive liberal arts learning experience. Because teaching and research go hand in hand at UC Santa Barbara, our students are full participants in an educational journey of discovery that stimulates independent thought, critical reasoning, and creativity. Our academic community of faculty, students and staff is characterized by a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration that is responsive to the needs of our multicultural and global society.
