GUADALUPE’S 100TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY FIESTA

SBCAG will shared plans for the upcoming Highway 166/Black Road Traffic Signal and Safety Improvement Project and promoted the EZ Bike Project recently at Club Comité Cívico Mexicano de Guadalupe’s 100th year anniversary fiesta at LeRoy Park in Guadalupe. This event aimed at bringing the community together for a parade and fiestas to commemorate Mexican Independence Day, a celebration of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla of Dolores who rang his church’s bell and delivered a speech now known as the Grito de Dolores (Cry of Dolores), demanding the end of Spanish rule. The Mexican War of Independence followed and lasted over a decade until August 24, 1821, when Spain withdrew and officially recognized Mexico as an independent county.
